Queen Bey is back: Beyoncé's new album 'Renaissance' is here
Queen Bey is back!
Beyoncé just dropped her seventh studio album "Renaissance" six years after the release of "Lemonade."
Almost three years in the works, Beyoncé recorded the album over the course of the pandemic, and said that the stillness of time allowed her to tap into her most creative self.
"Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world," the artist said in a statement.
"It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, release, feel freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration."
Though Beyoncé is the originator of the visual album format, she decided to release visuals at a later time, giving fans the opportunity to take in every song as listeners and not viewers.
The album was released under her own label Parkwood Entertainment and Columbia Records.
