'The Walking Dead' is getting a spinoff series on Rick Grimes, Michonne Hawthorne
Get ready, "The Walking Dead" fans!
The beloved post-apocalyptic series is getting a six-episode spinoff centered on Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne Hawthorne (Danai Gurira).
According to Variety, the two actors made the revelation in a surprise appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con on Friday (US time).
"I'm so excited to be returning to the screen as Rick, reuniting with Danai as Michonne, and bringing the fans an epic love story to add to the Walking Dead Universe," Andrew said.
"To continue the journey of these beloved characters, alongside Scott and Andy, both creatively and in front of the camera, and bringing The Walking Dead fans something truly special is just glorious," Gurira added. "I can't wait to pick up the katana again."
The spinoff, which will be produced in lieu of the films announced previously, is set to be released next year.
"The Walking Dead" series premiered in 2010 and ran for 11 seasons. It is set in a world besieged by a zombie apocalypse where survivors struggle to stay alive.
