Peter Dinklage joins the cast of 'Hunger Games' prequel
Peter Dinklage is entering the "Hunger Games" universe!
The "Game of Thrones" star has been confirmed feature in the prequel film "Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes."
He is set to play Casca Highbottom, dean of the Academy.
"With production underway, we couldn’t be more excited about the way this cast has come together and thrilled to be welcoming Peter Dinklage to Panem," said Nathan Kahane, president of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, in a statement.
"Peter is not just a fan favorite actor who brings a commanding presence to every part he plays. He is one of the best actors alive. He will bring a formidable, charismatic authority to the important role of the dean of the Academy," he added.
Based on the novels by Suzanne Collins, "The Hunger Games" is set in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future where tributes are chosen to compete in a televised fight to the death. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark end up being the tributes from their district and they travel to the Capitol for the deadly competition.
Collins released the prequel spin-off in 2020. "The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" is set decades before the events of the original trilogy and follows Coriolanus Snow, who would become the tyrannical President of Panem.
"Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" is slated for release in November 2023. —JCB, GMA News
