Who is Lapillus? Filipina-Argentinian member Chanty introduces K-pop group
New K-pop groups always become the talk of the town so with Lapillus debuting on Monday, it's time to know a bit more about them before we jam to their upcoming hits.
In an online interview with the press, its Filipina-Argentinian member Chanty proudly shared what their group name means and what message they want to convey with their music.
"Lapillus, it's like a type of gem or a stone that shines different colors depending on the direction of light and we kind of want to share a message to keep dreaming, have confidence, and find your own color."
Debuting under MLD Entertainment, the group is composed of Chanty, Shana, Yue, Seowon, Haeun, and Bessie. Chanty shared some of the members' personalities.
First on the list is Shana who, according to Chanty, is their leader.
"She is like our mom in the group and so I would say that she has this sense of responsibility," she said. "She has it all."
Yue, meanwhile, has a "different type of vibe" and her charm is instantly changing expressions when the music starts. As for Seowon, Chanty said she is "such a rapper."
Chanty also said Bessie is the speaker with her really strong voice, while Haeun is this "bright little girl" whom they take care of 'cause she is the youngest.
Of course, she also gave an idea of her role in the group: "They say I'm a vitamin 'cause especially when things get difficult, energy starts to go low, I have this positive kind of vibe and energy."
"According to [the members], I have a very positive mindset, so I've been called the vitamin ever since. I just keep on [saying], 'Fighting,' 'You can do this,' 'Girls, come on.'"
Chanty said she is thankful that it wasn't that hard to build rapport with the girls as they were all really nice and welcoming. She just flew to Korea for training in August last year.
"We never had any bickering or anything like that. They are also kind and understanding," she said. "We grew up in different countries, ways. Through talking, we were able to have chemistry as a team."
Lapillus will debut as MLD Entertainment's newest girl group after MOMOLAND with "Hit Ya!" Monday.
