Traveling with pets: Here are things to remember when going out with our fur babies

Traveling with pets is enjoyable but it also requires lots of preparation.

As seen on “Dapat Alam Mo,” pets such as dogs and cats are allowed at MRT-3 as long as the animal’s owner signs a waiver and complies with the train’s policies.

Pets riding the train should be placed in a carrier that is not more than 2 ft x 2 ft big. This is to ensure the safety of both passengers and animals. The pet must also not be fed while inside the train.

Owners should ensure that their pets can breathe and is well-ventilated inside its carrier.

Philippine Animal Welfare Society director Anna Cabrera said pets should be fully vaccinated so they would avoid contracting diseases especially outdoors.

Smaller pets should be carried when riding escalators at malls or parks, while bigger ones should use the stairs.

Human should also make sure that their pets are fully hydrated by bringing water for them to drink.

When strolling in public areas, pet owners should keep the animal in its carrier or leashed at all times. The owner of an unleashed animal that injures another person may be fined PHP500 under the Anti-Rabies Act of 2007. – RC, GMA News
