When is the best time to fly a kite in the Philippines? Kuya Kim answers

Ever wanted to fly a kite and wondered when is the perfect weather to do it?

You need a windy day, of course, but probably with just some light wind to get your kite aloft and not blow it away. You don't want any rain for sure, much less a storm or typhoon.

According to Kuya Kim on Monday's "24 Oras," the Amihan season or the time of the northeast monsoon offers the ideal conditions for flying kites. This is from November to April.

Meanwhile, the biggest kite in the world is called the Megabite. Its wings measure 55 x 22 meters.

It is believed that the oldest kite, which is over 3,000 years old, can be found in China. It is made of silk fabric and bamboo, which were the materials used for the craft in the earlier days.

Another interesting bit about kites is that in the 1760s, it was banned in Japan as the Japanese got more interested in flying kites than working.
