New 'Transformers' animated series to premiere this 2022

An all-new "Transformers" animated series is headed to Nickelodeon later this year.

On Twitter, Nickelodeon unveiled a teaser video for "Transformers: Earth Spark."

"Earth has new heroes," the caption said, adding that the series is premiering in the fall.

According to Anime News Network, the upcoming show will follow a new species of Transformers as they try to find their place and purpose among the Autobots, Decepticons, and the human family who adopt them.

It will feature "both original characters and fan-favorites," the report added.

"Transformers" is a franchise that started in the 1980s with the toy line, and eventually expanded to cover comic books, animation, and video games. It follows the robots who can transform into vehicles and animals.

In 2007, it was adapted into a live-action film, which spawned four sequels so far. —JCB, GMA News
