James Gunn says 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' is the 'last time people will see this team'
Are you ready to say goodbye to your favorite mismatched team of galactic superheroes?
The "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise is set to end with the upcoming third film, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3."
"This is the end for us, the last time people will see this team of Guardians," Gunn said on The Deadline Podcast.
He added that the film will be "so, so big and dark, and different from what people might be expecting it to be."
In Vol. 2 of the franchise, released in 2017, Peter Quill aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) fought against his biological father Ego (Kurt Russell).
In the 2019 blockbuster "Avengers: Endgame," Peter and the rest of the gang helped the Avengers defeat Thanos.
What can be expected in the third and final Guardians film?
"I just want to be true to the characters, the story and give people the wrap-up that they deserve for the story," Gunn said.
"That’s always a little bit scary; I’m doing my best," he added.
The first installation in the franchise, "Guardians of the Galaxy," was released in 2014. —JCB, GMA News
