4,000 Typhoon Odette victims in Southern Leyte receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation
GMA Kapuso Foundation brought relief packages to 4,000 victims of Typhoon Odette in the coastal towns of Southern Leyte.
According to “24 Oras” Tuesday, among those who received help was Josefa Abarico who still felt traumatized weeks after the typhoon devastated their home.
Josefa said they had to transfer to different places several times because the evacuation areas were either damaged or full of people. “Akala ko katapusan na,” she said.
She wondered where to get food for her family. “Mga bata nakakaawa, wala namang gatas, tapos ’yung bigas namin, wala na.”
With the intermittent rains, Josefa also worried for what’s left of their home and their things. “’Yung mga damit namin, kapag nabasa, wala na,” she said. “Naghihintay kami, kailan kaya iinit?”
Josefa and her fellow beneficiaries in San Francisco and Pintuyan towns received relief goods, blankets, mats, and soap through GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Operation Bayanihan project.
“Madalang ’yung tulong na dumadating dito sa amin, buti na lang dumating kayo,” she said.
