SB19’s ‘MAPA’ lands on Google top 10 global, local song searches in 2021

SB19 definitely made waves all over the world this year, and Google’s here to prove it.

In Google’s “Year in Search,” the Filipino group placed fifth in 2021’s most searched items globally under the songs category with their song “MAPA.”

Joining SB19’s “MAPA” in the top 10 global trending song searches were “Driver’s License,” “MONTERO,” “Industry Baby,” “Fancy Like,” “Good 4 U,” “Butter,” “Jalebi Baby,” “Wellerman,” and “Good Days.”

Locally, meanwhile, “MAPA” was the sixth most searched song for its lyrics, which paid tribute to the members’ parents. In case you didn’t know, the title is short for “mama and papa.”

Based on the list, Filipinos also took the time to learn the lyrics of “Pagsamo,” “Heartbreak Anniversary,” “Crazier,” “Panalo,” “Paubaya,” “Driver’s License,” All Too Well,” “Levitating,” and “Traitor.”

This isn’t the first time SB19 brought the Philippines’ name to the international music scene. In fact, just recently, they landed on Spotify’s Global RADAR Artists’ Top 5.

SB19’s “Bazinga” also topped Billboard’s Dec. 11-dated Hot Trending Songs chart.

Composed of Justin, Stell, Pablo, Josh, and Ken, SB19 made history this year for being the first Filipino act to be nominated for Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards.
