Just 5 ‘magpapakatotoo lang’ thoughts after watching John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo’s new mini movie
Two people we missed very much are back with a new mini movie, and the magic is still there.
In "One True Pair" by Jollibee Studios, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo play characters that seem very similar to who they are in real life—two artistas who are working together again after the longest time.
The film is 34 minutes long and the two make up for years' worth of unsaid things, so here are just 5 honest takeaways that fellow Bea-JLC shippers might want to know.
1. The magic is still there.
The film starts with Bea's character, Gela, being offered "another rom-com" with her longtime on-screen partner Ian (John Lloyd).
Despite her fear of the "magic" not being there anymore, Gela says "yes," and Ian—who happened to be eavesdropping from behind the door—thrusts his fist in the air in silent joy.
It's moments like these that make us so happy that the two are finally sharing the screen again.
2. We missed JLC so damn much.
It's been more than three years since John Lloyd took a break from showbiz, and now here he is, just in time for Christmas.
He's back, and so is everything we missed—including that kind stare, that sad smile and that unique tone of voice that makes supposedly cheesy lines sound so sincere.
3. Bea Alonzo is the queen of hugot lines.
We all know Bea has a way of delivering lines that will stay in our hearts (and the internet) for a very long time, so get ready for truth bombs like, "alam mo, 'yung puso, kahit durog 'yan, tumitibok pa rin," and "ang puso, walang switch (pero may pinto—may kakatok at kakatok pa rin diyan)."
4. JLC and Bea can really pull off a "Before Sunrise."
Instead of showing us an entire love story unfold, "One True Pair" follows Ian and Gela catch up for an entire afternoon.
Much like Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy in the classic film "Before Sunrise," Bea and John Lloyd deliver long, meaningful lines in an organic, conversation-like manner, allowing you to fall in love in real time, as well.
5. You don't always have to be endgame to be the OTP.
When you ship two very talented actors, you can't help but wonder how much of it is real or if it's really just chemistry.
"One True Pair," however, explores different kinds of "love" we can experience in a lifetime, very much like Bea and John Lloyd's that may exist on-screen and in our hearts. – RC, GMA News
