New ASMR podcast featuring Filipino folktales created by GMA News and Public Affairs, Spotify Studios
Looking for a soothing lullaby to listen to at night while grounding yourself with enchanting ASMR folk sounds?
GMA News and Public Affairs has launched "Sounds and Stories of the Philippines" on Spotify, a one-of-a-kind podcast featuring enchanting Filipino folktales accompanied by soothing sounds of nature and traditional musical instruments.
The new podcast is a collection of Filipino folktales narrated by veteran voice over artist Shirley Escalante. It is also the first project to archive Filipino folktales through an ASMR podcast.
Executive producers Rizza Mendiola and Lala Lacsina said the podcast was a "great way to introduce the beauty of Filipino folktales to the world," adding that they made sure to "maximize the rich and cultural sounds and instruments" of the Philippines.
According to program manager Bernice Sibucao, "Sounds and Stories of the Philippines" is GMA News and Public Affairs' first narrative fiction and ASMR podcast. It is also the company's first original co-production with Spotify.
"GMA News and Public Affairs has long been a storytelling powerhouse on every platform, be it on television or online. This new project carries on that long storytelling tradition, as we continue to explore exciting new formats to bring our Serbisyong Totoo to Filipinos, no matter what platform or device they're using," said GMA News and Public Affairs Senior Assistant Vice President Jaemark Tordecilla.
"Filipinos continue to embrace podcasts, and they have become an audio companion for many. Podcasts take listeners on a journey, letting them connect with their favorite storytellers. We are excited to bring to life the breathtaking culture of the Philippines to locals and the rest of the world," said Carl Zuzarte, Head of Studios, Southeast Asia, Spotify.
