Surfer dogs to welcome tourists in Baler
Dogs are considered man's best friend as well as surfer companions and the latest tourist attraction at a beach in Baler, Aurora, birthplace of Philippine surfing
According to JP Soriano's "24 Oras" report, the Department of Tourism's latest campaign, "It's more fun to be with you" even featured Tuna, one of Baler's surfer dogs.
Dogtown Collective, a dog-friendly food park, are training these dogs to ride the waves in Baler.
Tiara Mejos, one of the trainers of the surfer dogs, said it was natural for these dogs to climb onto the surfing board.
"Kapag maliit ang alon, he would swim towards me. It was natural for him to na sumampa sa board so inencourage lang namin," she said.
(If the waves were light, he would swim towards me. It was natural for him to climb on to the board and we encouraged them to do so.)
Those who want to see the surfer dogs may visit Sitio Castillo in Barangay Sabang, Baler.
The Dogtown Collective also plans to organize a surfboard competition for humans and dogs. -- Consuelo Marquez/BAP, GMA News
