Pinoy K-Pop fan spends more than PHP500K on merch, concert tickets: ‘Worth it po talaga’

K-Pop has been a major source of joy and inspiration for fans across the globe, especially amid the gloom and uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the "Eat Bulaga" game show "Bawal Judgmental" on Tuesday, a 25-year-old Filipino fan named Kaydii confessed she had spent a total of "PHP500,000 to PHP700,000" to support her idols.

As a proud fan of the groups SHINee and Seventeen, Kaydii emphasized that the large sum was "worth it" because they had given her motivation and an experience "unlike any other."

She also said she spent her own hard-earned money and made a lot of friends along the way.

"'Yung happiness naman po na nadadala, kunwari pag nanonood po ng concert, talagang memorable po kasi," Kaydii said during the interview portion.

"Tapos, minsan may mga merch … 'yung experience po kasi talaga, unlike any other. Worth it po talaga."

Like many fans, Kaydii's journey as a K-Pop fan started when she heard SHINee's 2009 hit "Ring Ding Dong."

"Tapos tuloy-tuloy na po from there," she said.

As for Seventeen, Kaydii said she had supported them since their debut in 2015, even saving up PHP13,000 of her allowance money to buy VIP concert tickets when she was in high school.

Until now, Kaydii proudly supports the group through streaming, online voting and "stanning" them on Twitter. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
