In Aklan, children creatively honor late mom with plastic flowers, decorations on mausoleum

A family in Aklan has a very creative way of honoring their late mom during Undas.

According to “Unang Balita,” it’s tradition for children of the Mantac family to decorate their mother’s mausoleum with plastic flowers, which she particularly when she was still alive.

This year’s display includes flowers peeping out of windows and garlands hanging from walls, but the family said they would have done a grander job if not for the COVID-19 pandemic.

All Saints’ Day traditions are expected to be different this year as the government plans to close cemeteries to the public this October 29 to November 4 to prevent crowding and the spread of COVID-19.

Apart from the Mantac’s flower display for their mom, a painter also wowed netizens by turning a simple white burial chamber into an eye-catching work of art.

Skipping the cemetery altogether? That's fine. You can still honor your late loved homes right from your home— Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
