Megaworld Cinemas to reopen in November with air filters, reconfigured theaters, other safeguards
Cinemas are finally reopening doors to the public—in a safer manner amid the pandemic, of course.
According to Megaworld Cinemas, its theaters that will resume operations Nov. 10 will use modified ventilation and air-conditioning systems equipped with Merv 13 air filters.
It said the filters could pump 100% fresh air round-the-clock to ensure optimum air quality and circulation inside the movie theaters.
The cinemas are also renovated to follow safety protocols with reconfigured seats, intensified sanitation of surroundings through UV technology, and contactless purchases.
Markings are also placed to easily identify entry and exit points and manage traffic flow better. The cinemas will also implement a 30% seating capacity for fully vaccinated individuals only.
Apart from ensuring that all staff members were fully vaccinated, Megaworld Cinemas also received a Safety Seal certification from local government units.
The seven Megaworld Cinemas that will reopen Nov. 10 are as follows: Eastwood Cinemas, Lucky Chinatown Cinemas, Newport Cinemas, Uptown Cinemas, and Venice Cineplex in Metro Manila; Southwoods Cinemas in Biñan City, Laguna; and Festive Walk Cinemas in Iloilo City.
Movie theaters in Metro Manila were allowed to open starting Oct. 16 after the IATF approved the proposal to downgrade the National Capital Region to Alert Level 3.
Among the safety protocols imposed are no eating and no holding hands inside the theaters. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
