Inka Magnaye talks about the challenges of moving from behind the camera to the spotlight

You might know Inka Magnaye as the voice behind the Philippine Airlines' in-flight reminders, or perhaps you've heard her as a radio DJ.

But recently, she's become a TikTok personality with 1.8 million followers and she also hosts her own podcast, "Sleeping Pill With Inka Magnaye."

It might seem like a seamless transition, but during an interview on Tuesday, Inka said it was quite an adjustment to her, too.

"One of the bigger challenges was the fact that I've always worked behind the scenes, and now I have to work in front of the camera," she said.

She shared that when she would host events or TV programs or host events where she had to be the talking head, she tended to make sharp arm movements.

"As a voice actor you don't really see this, and the movements help my voice get to the right kind of feeling," she said.

"As a host, I can't be that erratic in my movements, I have to be calmer. And that's one of the things I didn't realize I had to learn," she added.

Inka said that she had to change certain habits that she'd formed in her two decade-long career.

She revealed she also experienced camera shyness.

But despite all this, Inka has been having the time of her life.

"I've been really enjoying the video content creation and the fact that I can also do voice overs just adds something special," she said. "It's been fun."

Inka launched her podcast in May last year. In "Sleeping Pill With Inka Magnaye," she reads poems and books to ease her listener's anxieties and help them fall asleep. —JCB, GMA News
