Carlo Aquino receives ‘Squid Game’ tracksuit from Netflix
Will Carlo Aquino be starring on “Squid Game” if a second season is underway?
On Thursday, the actor shared a photo of himself wearing the iconic green tracksuit that players wore on the Netflix series.
Apart from the outfit, he also received a card printed with a circle, triangle, and square similar to the game’s invitation, and pouch that resembled one containing the marbles on the series.
“Better late than never!” Carlo wrote with a wink. “Thanks Netflix Philippines for the surprise.”
With the update, several fans can’t help but take their curiosity to the comments section: Is he finally joining the “Squid Game” cast for a possible Season 2?
According to a PEP.ph report, Carlo revealed that he was supposed to be a part of the hit series. Unfortunately, it didn’t push through because of travel restrictions.
On the possibility of a “Squid Game” Season 2, meanwhile, director Hwang Dong Hyuk earlier told The Hollywood Reporter that it might happen, but there was no assurance.
In any case, Carlo wasn’t the only Filipino tapped to be part of the show. Christian Lagahit, an actor and English teacher based in South Korea, portrayed Player 276 on the series.
A decade in the making, “Squid Game” is about a group of people who are mysteriously invited to play a game for a cash prize.
It turns out to be a terrifying fight for survival as the participants play traditional children’s games with deadly twists, all for 45.6 billion won (nearly PHP2 billion).
The series quickly gained popularity, propelling the actors to fame and even spurring viewers’ interest in learning Korean.
It has also become Netflix’s number one show in the world.
