‘Prince of Tennis II’ will be back with a new anime series next year
Good news for all you “The Prince of Tennis” fans out there: The action-packed Japanese sports anime is coming back next year with a new TV series titled “The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup.”
According to comicbook.com, the series will feature returning cast members including Junko Mindagawa as Ryoma Echizen, Ryotaru Okiayu as Kunimitsu Tezuka, Hiroki Yasumoto as Hoo Byodoin and more.
A teaser visual was unveiled at an event celebrating the anime franchise’s 20th anniversary last Sunday.
“The Prince of Tennis” is a Japanese manga series by Takeshi Konomi that follows middle school tennis player Ryoma Echizen who defeats fierce rivals to compete at the national tournament.
In 2009, Konomi launched the “The Prince of Tennis II” which takes place after the tournament, when Ryoma joins a select group of young tennis players at Japan’s top training camp.
The story continues in “The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup,” which will be the franchise’s first TV anime series in 10 long years. – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
