Kuya Kim gives tips to those who aspire to work in media, television
Having worked in the media and television industry for 17 years now, Kuya Kim Atienza has some words of wisdom to share with those who aspire to do the same in the future.
In an online interview with the press, the new Kapuso said that working in the industry is not easy.
Looking back at his early days, Kuya Kim had one word to describe it: "Napakahirap." He said one needs three Ps to achieve success in the field.
"When you have the passion, you have to be persistent to pursue it," he told GMA News Online.
"The most important of all is prayer. 'Pag meron kang passion, meron kang persistence, dagdagan mo ng prayer, then you'll find your fourth P—purpose."
["When you have passion, you have persistence, add prayer, then you'll find your fourth P—purpose."]
On the greatest lesson he learned from being in the profession, meanwhile, Kuya Kim said it's the importance of keeping one's core intact.
"Fame, just like power, corrupts every single day. You have to remind yourself that you are not what they taped you to be. You have to go back to your roots and put your feet back to the ground."
"The longer you forget yourself and think you're the image the network projects about you, that you are much better than life, get all these praises from people—it's all an illusion."
Kuya Kim officially marked his debut as a Kapuso on "24 Oras" Monday.
Aside from a new segment in the flagship news program, he will also join "Mars Pa More" and will headline a new GTV show called "Dapat Alam Mo" with Emil Sumangil and Patricia Tumulak.
