Kuya Kim reveals he hated school, took 7 years to finish college: ‘I’m not advising that for young people’

Even with all the knowledge Kuya Kim had stored in his brain, did you know that he despised school?

Kuya Kim shared this trivia about himself in an online interview with the press last week while looking back at his days as a student.

“I hated school so much. It took me seven years to finish college dahil ayoko mag-aral talaga (because I really didn’t want to study),” he told GMA News Online.

The “Kuya ng Bayan” clarified, however, that he loved learning so he made sure to do that on his own.

“Back in high school, I liked to read. I would cut classes so I can go to the library and read things I like. I wanted to read. I wanted to know,” he said.

“Learning is a real passion of mine. I’m actually smart, but hated structured knowledge,” he added.

Despite his revelation, Kuya Kim advised the youth to give their all in school.

“I’m not advising that for the young people. I always say nga, ‘mag-aral nang mabuti para buhay ay bumuti.’ The safest way is to go to school and excel in school,” he said.

Kuya Kim also said he was a “late bloomer” and his career started happening after college.

Now in the media industry for 17 years, Kuya Kim officially marked his debut as a Kapuso on “24 Oras” Monday. – RC, GMA News
