Netflix releases explosive trailer for new Britney Spears documentary
Netflix just dropped the full trailer for a gripping new Britney Spears documentary entitled “Britney vs. Spears.”
The film is set to premiere this September 28, and it “tells the explosive story of Britney’s life and her public and private search for freedom.”
According to Netflix, the production led by director Erin Lee Car will feature “years-long investigative work, exclusive interviews and new documents.”
The trailer also features haunting voice clips from Britney, like “I’ve worked my entire life… I don’t owe these people anything.”
“I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does… It’s been 13 years and it’s enough,” she also says.
It has yet to be made clear whether Britney herself participated in the Netflix feature, but the description says it “paints a thorough portrait of the pop star’s trajectory from girl next door to a woman trapped by fame and family and her own legal status.”
Britney has been fighting in court against a conservatorship over her personal and financial affairs since she suffered a mental health breakdown in 2008.
Just last August, her father Jamie Spears finally agreed to step down from his long time role as conservator of his daughter’s estate.
The New York Times documentary “Framing Britney” also shed light on the pop star's legal battle earlier this year. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
