Inka Magnaye on 'toxic' online culture: 'Anyone can say anything without any consequence'

As a TikTok personality with 1.8 million followers, Inka Magnaye is not new to getting negative and hurtful comments thrown her way.

In an episode of "The Howie Severino Podcast," the voice actress shared her thoughts on why online culture can be toxic and taxing for one's mental health.

"Everyone with a cellphone and an account feels like they are entitled to post everything. They treat their opinions as fact and they are braver with masks on," she said.

"That's why social media can be so bad for your mental health. Even if they don't mean what they say, they just want to give you a bad day," she added.

Inka said online culture has become toxic because "anyone can say anything without any consequence."

She said she tries to steer clear of the comments section to protect her mental health.

"I try not to read," she said. "There are days when I'm strong and I can handle it but there are days when I just can't."

Inka shot to popularity last year after revealing that she and her mom Lindy both did the voice over for the Philippine Airlines' in-flight reminders.

She is also known for a podcast titled "Sleeping Pill," which helps listeners sleep better at night through her soothing voice and affirmations.

Launched last May 2020, the "Sleeping Pill" podcast now has more than 70 episodes and has listeners from 80 countries.
