Meet Mochi, the 5-year-old Chow Chow 'arf-tist' who paints
Mochi, a five-year-old Chow Chow, is amazing everyone with his talent for painting!
In an episode of “AHA!” Mochi is seen using a canvas to showcase his skills for the craft just like how his fur parent Kate Manabat also loves art.
Kate is an incoming college student who plans to take up Bachelor of Science (BS) in Architecture.
“I make GUS paintings and digital art. I had friends who are artists,” she said. “We just got Mochi three months ago and he super loves food so that brings us joy.”
With her passion to create things, does that mean Mochi was able to get her talent? It’s a no for Kate.
So what is Mochi’s secret to creating wonderful pieces? You guessed it right: peanut butter.
“Three months ago, I saw it on my TikTok and thought of doing it with one of my dogs but they were too big already. When we got Mochi, I though, ‘Okay, let’s try,’” Kate said.
Although Mochi doesn’t really paint per se, it is no doubt that he still creates wonderful pieces to enjoy.
According to veterinarian Dr. Zarrah Rosuello, dogs can be trained to paint especially with a prize.
“They won’t perform painting per se without positive reinforcement or without getting anything from that experience. [It] can be in the form of food or affection,” she said in English and Filipino.
She added that usually, dogs who really paint may be influenced by their owners or trainers.
“There’s just difference maybe on how they perceive the color of the paint. for sure, we know that they appreciate it or they feel or we can see that they are happy with the stimulus we provide.”
In Hollywood, a dog named Jumpy caught everyone’s attention. Apart from starring in shows as a stunt specialist, he also paints!
Dogs aren’t the only ones who can showcase their art. In 1950, a chimpanzee named Congo rose to fame because of his ability to paint. He even starred in a show called “Zoo Time.” — Franchesca Viernes/LA, GMA News
