Ben&Ben drops music video for 'Sugat' featuring Munimuni

The much-anticipated collaboration between two hit OPM bands known for their powerful hugot songs is finally here!

On Friday, Ben&Ben released the official music video of "Sugat" featuring Munimuni.

In the video, the two bands can be seen solemnly performing at the Pinto Art Museum as they sang of healing from the past in order to move forward.

With the their signature rhythm and music, "Sugat" became a haunting and vulnerable ballad that lets you reflect on the wounds you've been carrying for a very long time.

According to Ben&Ben, "Sugat," written by vocalist Paolo Benjamin Guico and percussionist Toni Muñoz, was Toni's love letter to herself during a difficult period in her life when her confidence was weighed down by self-doubt.

“When Toni first presented the song as it was at the time to the band, Paolo immediately thought of a chorus section to address and accompany the message of the verses. It was the deeply personal experiences of both Toni and Paolo that made Sugat such a powerful song of self-healing and overcoming past wounds," Ben&Ben said in a statement.

The nine-piece band also revealed that the members have been a longtime fan of Munimuni and the opportunity to collaborate presented itself when Munimuni came back from their hiatus.

Ben&Ben described Munimuni as the "perfect collaborator for such a delicate song about healing," saying that they couldn't imagine how they could have pulled off the song without them.

The band added, "The very first time Adj and Owen sang the chorus, it was so much better than we could have imagined, and we couldn't believe just how perfect of a fit their voices were to support and carry the message of the song."

Munimuni, on the other hand, expressed how much they connected with Ben&Ben and the music they produced.

"We’re grateful that Ben&Ben gave us the freedom to experiment with sounds and convey the mood of the song on collaborative terms,” Munimuni said. “We also connected with the song on an intimate level, despite it being written by someone outside of the band. Paolo and Toni’s lyrics are written beautifully that it touched us, and gave us a new perspective on love and healing.”
