Catriona Gray to stop accepting new applicants for Nas Academy
Catriona Gray Academy will stop accepting new applicants for Nas Academy until the issue surrounding Whang-Od Academy is resolved.
Her talent management Cornerstone Entertainment made the announcement on Sunday.
"Cornerstone Entertainment, Catriona Gray and Nas Academy have agreed to stop accepting new applicants for the Catriona Gray Academy until the issue of 'Whang-Od' has been fully resolved," the statement read.
"Cornerstone will continue to monitor the progress of this incident," the statement further said.
Their post came as Nas Academy announced that they will pause operations in the Philippines following the controversy on the Whang-Od Academy.
Issues on the Whang-Od Academy began last Wednesday after the artist's grandniece Grace Palicas cried foul over Nas Academy, saying that her grandmother was not aware of a contract with them.
A day after Palicas' post, Nas issued a statement with video proof showing Whang-Od and her "trusted niece" Estella Palangdao present as she signed a contract using her thumb print.
The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) - Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) said they will investigate the contract signing following allegations of exploitation.
Catriona Gray is one of the many Filipino personalities who are tapped to become teachers for the Nas Academy.
