During a virtual press conference, member Justin said they decided to go for the term "Pagsibol" since its direct english translation is "germination."
"Pagsibol will talk about our growth, about our journey as SB19 from the beginning up to where we are now today," he said.
Meanwhile, Pablo said the sound of the whole EP is dynamic since they want their listeners to go on sort of a "rollercoaster" ride as they listen to the tracklist.
"Ayaw po kasi namin na parang iisa lang yung tunog kapag napakinggan nila 'yung whole EP, gusto namin na parang 'pag nakinig sila the next song will be a different sound from what they have heard doon sa nauna," he said.
"Gusto namin parang sumasakay sila sa rollercoaster na iba iba 'yung mood," he added.
[We didn't want the EP to have just one sound, we wanted fans to listen to a song and hear a different sound from the previous one.
We wanted listeners to feel as if they were on a rollercoaster.]
Pablo said when they composed the songs they had an initial goal to have the songs somehow "interconnected."
Meanwhile, Justin explained that the songs are interconnected by its meaning as it also talks about their roots as SB19.
Justin said "What?" "is about individuality, our roots and then so parang lahat interconnected sa roots."
"'Mana' is about reaching high but keeping your feet on the ground, 'Mapa' is about our family, our parents it's like where we came from, 'SLMT' for A'tin who supported us through our journey, 'Bazinga' is for doubters that motivated us to reach high, 'Ikako' is for the frontliners who helped us to continue despite the pandemic," Justin said.
He added that the production of the music has been ongoing since last year when all of them were still living in one condo and they would even do improvised recordings due to the limitations of the pandemic.
The Billboard Music Awards Social Artist nominees are also currently preparing for their virtual concert "Back in the Zone" set to happen on August 1.
SB19 earlier released its collaboration with Filipino band Ben&Ben titled "MAPA."
The song topped the iTunes charts in three countries after 24 hours of its release.
The group also became Rolling Stone's guest on Twitch. —JCB, GMA News
