Wes Anderson's 'The French Dispatch' gets 9-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival


Wes Anderson’s new film “The French Dispatch” had a warm reception at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

According to Variety on Tuesday, the comedy-drama earned one of the biggest standing ovations at the event so far.

The applause reportedly went on for nine minutes, with Anderson and his all-star cast in attendance.

The cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDermand, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Benicio del Toro and Stephen Park.

“The French Dispatch” is described as a “love letter to journalism.”

As seen in the trailer, the film follows a fictional magazine published in a 20th century French city.
