'Fullmetal Alchemist' to mark 20th anniversary with special program on July 12

It's been almost two decades since we met Edward and Alphonse Elric from the highly popular manga "Fullmetal Alchemist."

To celebrate the series' 20th anniversary, a special program will be held on July 12, Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine announced.

According to Crunchyroll, the program will be streamed on YouTube Live and the magazine's official Twitter feed from at 8 p.m. (JST).

The two main voice actresses of the anime adaptation, Romi Park (Edward Elric) and Rie Kugimiya (Alphonse Elric), are set to join the program to look back on their memories of the series.

The 20th anniversary campaign site meanwhile is set to open at 10 a.m. on July 12 (JST).

"Fullmetal Alchemist" by Hiromu Arakawa follows two brothers, Edward and Aphonse, as they make the journey to restore their original bodies after they committed the alchemy taboo: human transmutation.

It was serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan from July 12, 2001 until June 11, 2010.

The story was adapted into an anime in 2003, and then again in 2009. —JCB, GMA News
