Neil Gaiman announces 'Good Omens' will return for Season 2
The adventures of Crowley and Aziraphale continue as "Good Omens" will return for Season 2!
Neil Gaiman himself made the announcement on Tuesday, sharing the poster for the second season on his social media accounts.
The author also shared details on his blog, saying that he and Terry Pratchett began plotting the sequel to the book way back in 1989.
"Terry was clear on what he wanted from Good Omens on the telly. He wanted the story told, and if that worked, he wanted the rest of the story told," Gaiman said.
The two of them did not get to write the sequel as they both got busy with their own projects, "Sandman" and "Discworld."
They never forgot their plans, however, and now Gaiman is carrying the torch for the both of them after Pratchett passed away in 2015.
"Good Omens" was adapted into a television series in 2019, almost three decades after the book was first published in 1990. According to Gaiman, he used "bits of the sequel" in the TV adaptation.
The first season had six episodes and starred Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demon Crowley. The series was released in Amazon Prime and the BBC.
Season 2 will be filmed in Scotland, where sets are currently being built. Gaiman will work with John Finnemore for the writing of the second season, while Douglas MacKinnon will return to director's seat.
