Pinoy BTS ARMY members plant 1,500 seedlings in honor of group

Filipino fans of BTS are using their love for the K-Pop group for the betterment of nature.

According to a “24 Oras Weekend” report on Sunday, Elyssa Uy invited her ARMY friends to hike in Nueva Ecija and plant trees in honor of the seven BTS members.

Their initial target was to plant only 10 banaba trees. However, more fans donated so they were able to put 1,500 seedlings into the ground.

Each tree was named after them and BTS’ RM, Jin, Suga, V, Jungkook, J-Hope and Jimin.

Elyssa said they started the initiative to show their support for BTS’ hardworking members. They also want to spread the group’s influence by means of caring for the environment.

Apart from these reasons, they were also inspired by a tweet that went viral that said, “If BTS sincerely asked their fans to plant trees, they could probably end global warming.”

Since a lot of ARMYs donated, they will hold a second tree-planting project. — Franchesca Viernes/BM, GMA News
