Manila Luzon in talks to star in a drag show in the Philippines
Manila Luzon is in talks to star in a drag show in the Philippines!
In an online press conference on Wednesday, Cornerstone Entertainment confirmed that it was planning to launch a show with the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star soon.
The talent management clarified through a phone call, however, that it would not be the Philippine version of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” but the concept would be similar to it.
Although details were yet to be finalized, Manila shared in an online interview that if a Pinoy version of the drag show were to happen, there would be “some stiff competition.”
“It’s a difficult time to just cast the queens because there are so many talented queens out there,” she told GMA News Online.
According to the reality TV star, she will be up for a “good sewing challenge” in the competition because she loves creating things “out of nothing and making it look like a billion pesos.”
“I would love to see what these queens would do if there’s a Filipino version when it comes to sewing costumes and creating fabulous looks,” she said.
Even if things were still in the planning stage, Manila said she was determined to help in any way she could to bring attention to the drag industry.
“With my help, we can bring more attention to open people’s minds to how fabulous a drag show can be. [It] is an art form,” she told GMA Entertainment.
“It’s very impressive and I think a lot of people don’t know what work goes into it. Just being visible, I think, will help move it forward,” she added.
Manila also encouraged everyone to watch a drag show whenever they could so they wouldn’t miss out on a “huge amazing scene.”
“It is full of fantasy, full of the most creative, talented artists in the world and it’s right there so go and see a drag show, go and support your queens,” she said.
Apart from the drag show, Manila will also be releasing music under Cornerstone Entertainment.
