‘Voltes V: Legacy’ director says Camp Big Falcon set as big as 4 basketball courts
A more detailed look into the Camp Big Falcon on “Voltes V: Legacy” has been revealed!
On Nelson Canlas’ “24 Oras” report Tuesday, director Mark Reyes shared a few photos from the sets of the series’ Camp Big Falcon, Boazanian Skull Ship, and Underground Base.
According to the director, the Camp Big Falcon set is as big as three to four basketball courts, while the Boazanian Skull Ship is about two.
“When we saw it, even we were shocked,” he said, with much enthusiasm.
He also said the cast had already undergone fitting for their costumes which took a year to design, went through five revisions, and were still a “work in progress.”
“It’s not like ‘Encantadia’ where we worked with our own creation. It’s a franchise, so we have to get approvals from Japan, and fans have a mindset that it should be good,” said Reyes.
“We have to update it to find a good marriage within the classic ‘Voltes V’ look and one that’s acceptable nowadays,” he added. “We won’t do plain spandex.”
On the show’s target premiere date, meanwhile, the director said “good things take time.”
“We could’ve moved things faster but the pandemic hit. It was delayed. Don’t expect this to be ready this year,” he said.
“Something this big and if you really want it good, the CGI (computer-generated imagery) alone will take a while,” he added.
The cast, including Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, and Matt Lozano, started their lock-in taping a week ago.
A teaser for the highly anticipated series was released in January and it has since garnered more than a million views on YouTube.
The live-action adaptation was licensed by Japan’s Toei Company Ltd. through the Philippine-based Telesuccess Productions. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
