Filipino BL series ‘Gameboys’ to have TV premiere on GMA Heart of Asia in June
The Filipino BL (boys’ love) series “Gameboys” will have a television premiere on GMA Heart of Asia on June 13.
In a report on Saksi Showbiz on Monday, Lhar Santiago shared his interview with the two lead stars Elijah Canlas, who played Cairo, and Kokoy de Santos, who potrayed Gavreel.
Elijah said he was excited for their series to be discovered by new viewers.
“It’s exciting to know what would be their reactions and all,” he said in Filipino.
Kokoy said he was also thrilled for their show’s TV premiere and hoped it would inspire other people.
“Gameboys” follows two livestream gamers who are rivals online but are a match in the game of love. The two find connection as they beat both digital and personal dilemmas.
It is the first Filipino series to ride on the trending BL genre.
Aside from the television premiere, the Saksi report said “Gameboys” would have a second season and a film version.
Kokoy is also expected to guest on several Kapuso programs.
Elijah, meanwhile, recently won Best Actor for his role on “Kalel, 15” at Harlem International Film Festival.
Last year, he bagged the top acting prize at the 17th Asian Film Festival in Rome, Italy, for the same film. – Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/RC, GMA News
