Miss Singapore reveals her national costume was made by Filipino designer in 2 days!

Miss Universe Singapore Bernadette Belle Ong revealed on social media that her iconic "Stop Asian Hate" national costume was made by a Filipino designer in just two days!

In an Instagram post on Friday, Ong shared photos of herself wearing the elegant yet fiery red bodysuit paired with a flowy cape that had words painted on it, sending a powerful message all around the world.

"Can you believe that this was made in only 2 days?" she wrote. "I reached out to Filipino designer Arwin Meriales to create a design of my own and he executed!"

"When he offered to get Paulo Espinosa to hand paint something at the back I knew straight away that it had to be about the movement revolving racial spite and prejudice!" she added.

Ong said that it was a "huge win" for her to have the costume sent from the Philippines to Singapore before she flew to the US under such limited time frame.

"We got our message across loud and clear! Thanks for roaring back at us with love and praise!" she said.

She also praised Meriales for his "undeniably impressive work ethic" for making two other dresses for her Miss Universe journey and at the same time juggling with his exams.

Meanwhile, Espinosa took to social media to also express his pride over his and Meriales' creation.

"The official designer, Arwin Meriales, and I are both happy with your comments. It was a short notice and we only had 2 days to make it [that's why I painted it right after my day job]," he wrote.

He also shared multiple photos of how the dress came to be behind the scenes.

"Iniyakan pa ni Arwin 'to [Arwin cried over this]. And I think he had a panic attack due to some mishaps a day before shipment," he said.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo wowed the audience with her Philippine flag-inspired costume complete with angel-like wings at the back.

The 69th Miss Universe's national costume competition was streamed live on Friday morning. The winner of the round will be announced during the coronation night to be held on May 17 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Florida.

Fans can vote for their favorite costume until May 15.
