'Army of the Dead' will take you to a zombie world 'you've never seen before,' Zack Snyder says

Zack Snyder's new horror-action film "Army of the Dead" is coming to Netflix this month, and he says it will take the audience to "a zombie world you've never seen before."

For those who don't know, Snyder is also the director and cinematographer behind "Dawn of the Dead" (2004), which is a remake of the 1978 sequel to the iconic "Night of the Living Dead."

During a recent online press junket, Snyder explained how he created a whole new world from scratch this time around.

"When I did [Dawn of the Dead], it was based on another film, and [Army of the Dead] is based on an original (story), so it's really a chance for me to blow out a world and create a world," he said.

"And I think that getting the chance to for me create this world from scratch is pretty fun, and I think, for the audience, they're gonna get this zombie world you’ve never seen before," he added.

The story follows former zombie war hero Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) who leads a highly-skilled team to infiltrate a zombie-infested Las Vegas with a plan to retrieve $200 million hidden somewhere beneath the strip before the city is nuked in 32 hours.

The film also stars Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win.
