Tonipet Gaba hopes ‘Art Angel’ will return on GMA-7 with new episodes

After the successful rerun of “Art Angel” last year, one of its hosts Tonipet Gaba said he was hoping that the show would return on GMA-7 with new episodes.

“Alam niyo hindi ko itinatago ’yan na gustong gusto ko ibalik ang ‘Art Angel’ sa kahit ano pa mang form or paraan o plataporma na ito’y papayagan o hahayaan kasi nang ito’y binalik last year nung nagkaron ng rerun, nag-trend ito,” Tonipet told GMA News Online in an interview on Tuesday. 

[You know I am not hiding it, I want “Art Angel” to be back in whatever form or means or platform that will be allowed because when it had a rerun last year, it trended.]

Tonipet said the show offered nostalgia and took then children who grew up watching the show to a trip down memory lane. 

Now the host of “Pop Talk,” he said he believed that more television shows for children were needed.

“Nakakatuwa kasi nai-introduce na ito sa kanilang mga anak, sa mga bagong henerasyon na mga kiddie Kapuso and nag-peak ’yun eh, nag-trend ’yun, and how I wish nga na maibalik ang ‘Art Angel’ dahil naniniwala kami na kailangan natin ng telebisyong pangbata, programang pangbata,” he said.

[It is great that parents introduced the show to their kids, to the new generation of kiddie Kapuso, and the show peaked, it trended, and how I wish “Art Angel” will return because we believe that we need television and programs for children.]

The Kapuso host said, “children’s television should be back and I feel kung ano mang importansya ang ibigay natin sa iba’t ibang plataporma, ganon din dapat ang plataporma para sa mga pang-batang telebisyon dahil ito ang humuhubog satin.”

[I feel whatever importance given to other platforms should be given to children’s television because this shapes us.]

Tonipet expressed his hopes on seeing “Art Angel” back on television.

“Fingers crossed ibabalik ang ‘Art Angel,’ why not, let’s throw it out there, i-claim na natin i-balik ang ‘Art Angel,’” he said.

In an interview with “24 Oras” last year, Tonipet said COVID-19 patients and frontliners also watched reruns at the hospitals. “Someone tweeted that they were watching it while they’re at the hospital, and the patients, radio technicians and medical frontliners were singing to it, the nurses too.”

“Art Angel,” which was hosted by Pia Arcangel and Tonipet, aired on GMA-7 from 2004-2011.

It had a rerun on television last May. Some episodes are available on GMA Playground’s YouTube channel. – RC, GMA News
