BTS inspires Filipino youth in telco’s commercial film

BTS wants to spread encouragement and hope to Filipino youth in these trying times and this commercial film with Smart is just the perfect way to prove it.

In the two-minute video, all seven members are seen walking up and down seven iterations of The Penrose Stairs, which is symbolic of defying impossible situations. Positive messages like "keep learning," "keep chasing your passions" are thrown all around.

The commercial film, which is part of Smart's "Live Your Passion with Purpose" campaign, features two of BTS’ hit songs “Life Goes On” and “Dynamite,” which has helped a lot of Filipinos cope amid the pandemic.

Shot in Seoul, Smart said that everything was done virtually but one thing to note is that they all members acted like kids, but in a good way, especially Jungkook, V and J-Hope.

“They are very nice, very professional. They came in on time, no complaints,” SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business Jane Basas to GMA News Online.

“What makes us move is the ARMY waiting for us,” Suga said in a video message shown during Thursday's launch.

“The passion of the team comes from longing for stage and wanting to do music. The reason and purpose, of course, will be an ARMY,” Jimin added.

The group also stated that they are looking forward to visiting the Philippines as soon as the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) threat is over.

“Philippines is a great country and I really want to go there as a vacation spot,” Jin said.

“Philippines can’t be left out for our Southeast Asia tour,” J-Hope added.

According to FVP, Head of Prepaid Marketing Miriam Choa, subscribers can watch out for exclusive photo cards and “more exciting content” soon.

On Wednesday, BTS teased their Filipino fans with a message of hope three months after the telco giant announced them as their new ambassadors.

As of writing, the video has nearly 106,000 views. The hashtags #livesmarterbts and #PassionPurposeBTS are the top two trending topics on local Twitter.

EDSA also trended earlier Thursday after fans noticed BTS’ posters scattered along the highway. — LA, GMA News
