SB19 shares crazy behind-the-scenes stories during making of ‘What?’ music video

If you’ve seen the music video for “What?” by SB19, you were probably blown away by the band’s unique concept and show-stopping visuals.

But did you know what Justin, Pablo, Ken, Stell, and Josh actually had to go through to make all of it happen?

In a virtual interview with GMA Digital, the Pinoy pop group said they didn’t even think the music video was possible to pull off at first. 

“The idea alone was unrealistic,” Josh said in Filipino.

“‘How are we going to do this?’ That was our thought process. ‘How are we going to execute this?’”

On top of a tight schedule, elaborate costumes, and an intricate dance routine, the boys literally had to face the elements.

Josh said they dealt with uncooperative weather and bugs flying everywhere.

Justin also recalled how difficult it was to shoot the dance sequence, which the group apparently had to do on a plain of lahar.

He said the ground where they danced was made of mudflow, and the dust flew all over the place. It was also very hot on the day they shot the video.

Despite the challenges, the boys were especially proud to present the final product to their beloved fans collectively known as A’TIN.

“Sobrang sarap lang sa feeling na may mga taong nakaka-appreciate ng music niyo na pinaghirapan,” Ken said.

[It’s such a good feeling that there are people who appreciate the music that you worked hard on.]

According to Pablo, the group has more in store for their fans and they’re waiting for the day they can perform “What?” for them in person.
