Sheryl Cruz shares easy hula-hoop workout tricks for beginners at home

Sheryl Cruz, who stars in GMA-7's Afternoon Prime drama "Magkaagaw," has been getting a lot of praise for looking fabulously fit for a woman in her 40s.

During a guest appearance on "Unang Hirit," the actress revealed that hula hooping is one of her favorite ways to stay in shape.

She also demonstrated a few tricks for those who want to try a hula hoop workout at home.

1. Basic waist hoop

Everybody has to start somewhere. If you're new to hula hoops, Sheryl would recommend mastering basic waist hooping. Start by swinging the hoop towards your "dominant side" and moving your hips side to side or back and forth until you get a rhythm going.

2. Shoulder hoop

Now for the next level: Bring your hoop to your shoulders, swing it to one side, then move your shoulders until you find some rhythm. Sheryl particularly loves this step because you can freely incorporate some dance steps while you move your body side to side.

3. The "escalator"

Sheryl said this step looks hard but it's really quite easy. By placing one foot through the hoop and placing the hoop between your legs in the right way, you can use very little force to toss it all the way up your body!

After working out with a hula hoop for almost five years, Sheryl Cruz assured her fellow mommies that it's fun and easy once you get the hang of it.
