'Ghost of Tsushima' is getting a movie, 'John Wick' director on board

A film adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game “Ghost of Tsushima” is in the works at Sony Pictures.

According to the PlayStation blog, the upcoming film is helmed by “John Wick” director Chad Stahleski.

The story follows the Samurai warrior Jin Sakai as he tries to protect the Japanese island of Tsushima during a Mongol invasion.

The idea of translating our game into a new medium is exciting, and we’re intrigued by the possibilities," said game director Nate Fox. "To think that we could sit in the theater someday watching Jin Sakai up on the big screen is amazing."

The game “Ghost of Tsushima” became an instant hit after it was released for the PlayStation 4 in 2020.

According to Fox, they have sold more than 6.5 million copies of Ghost of Tsushima as of now.

Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are also working together on two other film adaptations for popular video games.

These include the upcoming “Uncharted” movie starring Tom Holland set to be released next year, and “The Last of Us” starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay. —JCB, GMA News
