Donnalyn Bartolome used her YouTube revenue to help plant 1,000 bamboo trees in Rizal
Donnalyn Bartolome donated and planted over 1,000 native bamboo trees in Rizal from the income she earned through her YouTube channel.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Donnalyn shared a photo of her planting and said that she is doing this to keep people safe from flood.
"I feel like people have forgotten what happened to us just months ago with Typhoon Ulysses. I didn't. I will not," she wrote in the caption.
"After months of preparation, research and help from the authorities with permits and search of the land to plant seedlings, we did it!" she added.
Donnalyn established her charity, Influence Us, to help victims of the typhoons last year. They have raised over P1 million as of January 31.
"With the money I earned from YouTube, we will be planting trees to prevent future flooding. Prevention is better than cure," she said.
"All that subscribing and not skipping ads will all be worth it!" she added.
Donnalyn said she remembered the struggle of not being able to do anything but cry for others who are experiencing a crisis.
"I knew you guys felt the same so I collected donations through my [YouTube] revenue and other ways so if you've subscribed and watched my videos you have done something," she said.
In November last year, Donnalyn bought boats to be delivered in areas affected by Typhoon Ulysses. —Franchesca Viernes/MGP, GMA News
