'Yasuke' anime to premiere on Netflix on April 29

"Yasuke," the anime about a samurai of African descent, is set to premiere on Netflix on April 29.

According to the streaming platform, the series will be directed by LeSean Thomas and will have six episodes.

The story is set in an alternative version of  feudal Japan with "mechs and magic" and follows Yasuke, who is based on a historical figure of the same name.

The character is described to be "the greatest ronin never known," but the real person actually served under Nobunaga Oda during the Sengoku period in Japan.

In the anime, Yasuke is trying to live in peace after a violent past but he picks up his sword once again to protect a mysterious child who is being targeted by warlords.
