J-pop superstar Hikaru Utada drops theme song for final 'Evangelion' movie

The theme song for the fourth and final "Evangelion" film is here, and it's sung by none other than Hikaru Utada.

The J-pop superstar released the track "One Last Kiss" which will be featured in "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time." The music video was directed by the film's author, screenwriter, and director Hideaki Anno.

It's been an eight-year wait for "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time," but it looks like it's successfully heading to the big screen this January 23. Last December, a full trailer was released.

The first three films in the film series are "Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone" (2007), "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance" (2009), and "Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo" (2012).

The tetralogy is based on the original anime show "Neon Genesis Evangelion." Based on the manga by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the story is set in post-apocalyptic Japan, and follows teenage boy Shinji, who was recruited to pilot a giant machine called an Evangelion to combat the alien monsters they call Angels.

The manga was first published in 1994, and it was adapted into an anime in 1995. —JCB, GMA News
