‘Elsa?’ DanVibes says she did not expect her singing tutorials to go viral

The internet sensation known as DanVibes or Teacher Dan had no idea her vlogs and singing lessons would go viral.

Among her most popular videos is a hilarious tutorial on how to sing “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” which she begins with a high-pitched voice: “Elsa?”

Her rendition of the song from the animated film “Frozen” now has more than 2.5 million views on Facebook and 750,000 plays on TikTok.

Apart from her singing tutorials, the vlogger also creates teacher skits that drive way too close to home.

According to DanVibes, whose real name is Danieca Arreglado Goc-ong, she was able to fulfill her dreams of becoming a teacher until the pandemic hit.

“Last year din natapos ’yung contract ko sa private school. And dahil sa pandemic, I was not able to continue it. Mahirap mag-apply, e. And then there’s no slot as of this time pa sa public that’s why ito na lang, nag-tutorial ako at saka nag-vo-vlog,” said the 24-year-old vlogger.

“Then luckily, ayun nagba-viral siya. Hindi inaasahan.”

DanVibes said she started vlogging because “I just wanted to connect kasi teacher ako, and then hilig ko ’yung pagkanta, ’di ba, so puwede ko kasi ’yun i-combine.”

Even before the pandemic hit, her journey to becoming a teacher was filled with obstacles.

Dan said she and her mother sold candles while her father drove a motorcycle.

“Unang pangarap ko talaga ’yung pagtuturo because I wanted also to help kasi alam ko kung paano ang hirap sa pagiging estudyante,” she said.

“Kasi noon tinutulungan ako ng mga teacher ko kaya in return, gusto ko rin tumulong sa mga estudyante, soon, na kagaya ko na grabe ’yung hirap na pinagdaanan.”

Dan said she wanted to become a teacher, but her mother couldn’t afford to send her to college.

“Kaya ’yun naghanap ako ng sino ’yung puwedeng gumastos sa akin,” she said.

“So ang ginawa ko nag-scholarship ako, nagtrabaho ako sa munisipyo, ako ’yung tagalinis ng mga tindahan doon. Nagtitinda ako right after my school ng kandila.”

The vlogger said she even hosted barangay shows.

“Right after grumaduate, gusto ko talaga magkaroon ng trabaho agad-agad. I wanted to help my family kasi ako lang ’yung nakapagkolehiyo. Sampu kaming magkakapatid. And then, ayun kaya turo-kayod. Alam naman natin ang hirap ng buhay.”

Although the pandemic postponed her dreams of becoming a teacher, Dan used her skills online to continue educating while spreading good vibes.

“Despite what you are facing, ano lang tayo, positive. Alam ko kasi binigay sa atin ’yan because God wanted ... alam niya na kaya natin.” – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
