The show will be directed by no less than Tim Burton, making this his television directoral debut.
"Netflix and MGM/UA are thrilled to announce the new live-action coming-of-age comedy Wednesday that will see everyone’s favorite maiden of the macabre graduate into a full fledged leading lady," said Ted Biaselli, director of Original Series in Netflix.
The show is set to have eight episodes and will revolve around the Wednesday's years as a student at the peculiar Nevermore Academy.
"Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body," Biaselli said.
Wednesday is part of the strange, and at times creepy, Addams Family, created by cartoonist Charles Addams. The characters have been adapted into various media, including the film "The Addams Family" in 1991. —JCB, GMA News
