‘The Uncanny Counter’: Here’s what you need to know about this new Korean series
It’s no secret that the new South Korean series “The Uncanny Counter” is taking the Philippines by storm!
As of today, “The Uncanny Counter” is on Netflix’s Top 10 trending shows in the country. If you’re curious as to what the show is all about, here are a few details you might want to know.
1. Based on a webtoon
“The Uncanny Counter,” like many new South Korean series, is based on a popular webtoon.
The story follows a group of people who work at a noodle shop but are actually demon hunters. Each member, called a Counter, has a partner spirit that gives them supernatural abilities.
2. Packed with action stunts
Since a lot of demon-hunting is involved in the storyline, the series is also packed with action scenes.
The actors didn’t just go through stunt training, but they also practiced multiple choreographed action scenes that involved hand-to-hand combat.
3. Similarity with “Money Heist”
Despite the difference in the story, production, and location, “The Uncanny Counter” bears some similarities with the renowned Spanish series “Money Heist.”
Apart from having action-packed scenes, the characters in both series wear a red tracksuit. While the “Money Heist” thieves wear these when invading a bank, “The Uncanny Counter” hunters suit up when pursuing demons.
Starring Yu Jun-sang, Yeom Hye-ran, Cho Byeong-kyu and Kim Se-jeong, “The Uncanny Counter” streams on Netflix, with new episodes every Friday and Saturday, 11 p.m. Philippine time. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
