5 trendy hairstyles you need to try in 2021
Nothing says "new year, new me" better than a bold new hairstyle.
All that quarantine time allowed many of us to grow long manes and fresh tresses, so hairstylist to the stars Lourd Ramos virtually stopped by "Unang Hirit" to talk about awesome new hair trends to be all the rage in 2021.
Extraordinary hair colors
More and more people are going for loud and unconventional hair colors this year.
For girls, Lourd said ultra-blondes, purples, "blue jeans," "aroma greens," baby pink and "ultra-platinum" are totally in this season.
If you're not ready to go that bold, you can also try "super black," "honey iced-tea, "ash blonde" silver-greys, or deep dark chocolate browns.
Micro-highlights
According to Lourd, a technique called "micro highlighting" is big with color technicians right now.
A vibrant yet subtle way to elevate your hair color is to apply some product to one very thin lock of hair at a time. It might take more work than regular highlights, but the results are totally worth it!
“Sobrang nipis ng highlights na yan na parang totoo ba? Akin 'yang buhok na 'yan," the hair expert said.
Curtain bangs
Full bangs are great, but you'll need "curtain bangs" to see a bright future in 2021, Lourd jokes.
Curtain bangs are just like regular bangs, but they're parted down the middle, framing your face on each side.
These are usually on the longer side and have wispy ends, giving you a laid-back, cool-girl vibe.
Hanging bob
Blackpink's Lisa Manoban and Wendy of Red Velvet are only some of the K-pop idols who traded their long hair for a trendy short hairstyle.
According to Lourd, long "hanging bobs" are totally in right now, and they can also be accompanied with curtain bangs.
As we all know, bobs are super easy to style and maintain. They can also frame your face and make your hair look extra full.
Multi-layer flower haircut
If you're a mermaid at heart who's not ready to say goodbye to her long locks, not to worry.
Lourd says long, layered hair is back in style and you can try what's called a "flower" haircut that's perfect for girls with thick hair.
If you're looking for new, trendy ways on how you can style long hair for everyday looks, you can take a cue from Seo Dal Mi a.k.a. Suzy in the K-drama "Start-up."
For boys
According to Lourd, lots of men are rocking the long-haired look, especially since quarantine has made it hard to visit their usual barber shop.
However, the clean-cut, military-style look is very much still in the trend for boys, only they sometimes add an edgy flourish in the form of a clean line or a unique
fade.
Lourd also noticed that boys have also been "more aggressive" when it comes to hair colors, going for loud shades like blonde, "aroma green" and even "pastel blue."
This trend might have something to do with many of us shifting to online classes and work-from-home settings, but Lourd said it can also be attributed to our love for K-pop idols and Hollywood celebrities who change their hair color on the reg.
"Dahil sa k-pop influence natin 'yan, atsaka sa mga hollywood celebrities na napapanuod natin na grabe: Blonde, platinum, minsan 'yung iba purple pa, t'saka blue," the hair expert said.
