Final 'Evangelion' film releases full trailer
It's been an eight-year wait, but the fourth and final film in the "Evangelion" franchise is coming soon.
"Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time" (Shin Evangelion Gekij?-ban :||) just dropped a full trailer, further hyping up eager fans.
Posted on Khara's YouTube channel, the minute and a half-long video featured J-pop legend Utada Hikaru, who sings "One Last Kiss," the theme song for the film.
"Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time" is hitting Japanese theaters on January 23.
The first three films in the film series are "Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone" (2007), "Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance" (2009), and "Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo" (2012).
The tetralogy is based on the original anime show "Neon Genesis Evangelion."
Based on the manga by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the story is set in post-apocalyptic Japan, and follows teenage boy Shinji, who was recruited to pilot a giant machine called an Evangelion to combat the alien monsters they call Angels.
The manga was first published in 1994, and it was adapted into an anime in 1995. —JCB, GMA News
