Netflix announces live action 'Ghost Fighter' series


"Yu Yu Hakusho," locally known as "Ghost Fighter," is getting a live action adaptation.

Netflix made the announcement on Wednesday, saying that it will be "produced as a live action Netflix Original Series on an unprecedented scale."

Originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump for four years from 1990, Yu Yu Hakusho was later adapted into an anime series that aired from 1992 to 1995. It was aired on GMA Network in 1999 with the title "Ghost Fighter."

The story revolves around Yusuke Urameshi, a high school student who spends his days getting into fights. After dying in an accident while trying to protect a young child, he is given a chance to be revived, and after passing his trial, he becomes an Underworld Detective. From there, Yusuke quickly becomes entwined in a mystery that envelopes the human, demon and spirit worlds.

The original anime series started streaming on Netflix back in June—JCB, GMA News
